Water Mitigation Xactimate Estimates, Documented to IICRC S500

Redefined Restoration LLC writes remote water mitigation Xactimate estimates for restoration contractors nationwide, covering extraction, drying, demolition and equipment, documented to IICRC S500. Pricing is $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher. Both owners, Michael White and Erik Pauliks, hold IICRC WRT and ASD certifications.

Co-owners Michael White and Erik Pauliks bring 25+ combined years of restoration experience, and both are IICRC Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT) and Applied Structural Drying (ASD) certified. Every estimate reflects how drying jobs actually run: the extraction, the demo, the equipment set, the daily monitoring and the tear-down at the end.

What goes into a water mitigation estimate?

Short answer: Every task and every piece of equipment the job required, from first response through final dry-out, supported by your readings and photos.

We scope from your documentation and check it against IICRC S500, the industry standard for professional water damage restoration. Typical scope areas include:

  • Emergency response and inspection
  • Water extraction from flooring and surfaces
  • Controlled demolition of affected materials (drywall, baseboard, flooring, pad, insulation)
  • Air movers, dehumidifiers and other drying equipment, billed by the documented runtime
  • Daily monitoring and moisture mapping
  • Antimicrobial application where appropriate
  • Containment and PPE where the job required them
  • Contents manipulation and protection
  • Debris removal and haul-off
  • Equipment setup, decontamination and removal

What you receive

  • A complete, line-by-line water mitigation Xactimate estimate
  • Equipment and monitoring scoped to your drying records
  • Scope grounded in IICRC S500
  • The ESX file and the completed PDF estimate report, ready to submit under your company's name
  • A typical 24–48 hour turnaround, depending on scope complexity

What documentation do you need for a water loss?

Short answer: Photos, a sketch or measurements, moisture readings, drying logs, and equipment placement and runtime records.

The more complete the documentation, the stronger and more defensible the estimate. Use our water mitigation documentation checklist before you send the file.

Why do water mitigation estimates come up short?

Short answer: Usually missing documentation or missed line items, not missing work.

Common gaps we see when contractors write their own estimates late at night:

  • Equipment days that don't match the drying log
  • Monitoring visits left off
  • Prep, protection and contents handling not itemized
  • Category and class of water not documented clearly
  • Demo quantities that don't match the sketch

Already wrote the estimate? Send it for a supplement. You pay $150 or 1% of only the new money we add.

How much does a water mitigation estimate cost?

Short answer: $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher.

A $6,500 mitigation estimate costs $150. A $22,000 mitigation estimate costs $220. Estimating fees are billed on the 14th and 28th.

Can you follow the invoice after it's submitted?

Short answer: Yes, with optional claim support at 3.5% of the final amount paid, only after you're paid.

We follow up on status, provide the documentation behind the estimate, and answer line-item questions. You make every decision on your invoice.
