Mold Remediation
Mold Remediation Xactimate Estimates Aligned with IICRC S520
Redefined Restoration LLC writes remote mold remediation Xactimate estimates for restoration contractors nationwide, covering containment, removal and cleaning aligned with IICRC S520. The fee is $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher. Supplements to existing mold estimates are charged only on the new money added.
Mold jobs live or die on how well the containment, protection and cleaning steps are documented. We write the full remediation scope from your documentation so every step of the work is on the estimate.
What does a mold remediation estimate include?
Short answer: Containment, worker protection, removal of affected materials, cleaning, and the steps that verify the work, aligned with IICRC S520.
Typical scope areas include:
- Containment setup (poly barriers, zipper doors, critical barriers) and teardown
- Negative air and air filtration devices, with documented runtime
- PPE for the work performed
- Removal and bagging of affected porous materials
- HEPA vacuuming and damp wiping of surfaces
- Antimicrobial application where appropriate
- Cleaning of structural materials that stay in place
- Debris disposal
- Contents protection or removal
- Rebuild of removed materials (reconstruction)
What you receive
- A complete, line-by-line mold remediation Xactimate estimate
- Containment and equipment scope tied to your documentation
- Scope aligned with IICRC S520
- The ESX file and the completed PDF estimate report, ready to submit under your company's name
What documentation do you need for a mold job?
Short answer: Photos, a sketch with the affected areas marked, moisture readings, and any assessment or protocol you're working from.
Helpful items:
- Photos of visible growth and of the containment once it's built
- Measurements of affected areas and the containment footprint
- Moisture readings and the moisture source
- The remediation protocol or assessment report, if a third party wrote one
- Equipment placement and runtime
- Notes on materials removed versus cleaned
Why do mold estimates get questioned?
Short answer: Because containment, PPE and equipment are often under-documented, not because they weren't needed.
When the estimate ties every containment and equipment line to photos and records, the scope is easier to support. If the job also had water damage, see water mitigation estimating. Already wrote it? Send it for a supplement.
How much does a mold remediation estimate cost?
Short answer: $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher.
Example (illustrative): a $9,800 remediation estimate costs the $150 minimum. A $16,400 remediation estimate costs $164.
Why outsource mold remediation estimates?
Short answer: Because the steps that take the most time on site are also the easiest to leave off the estimate.
Building and tearing down containment, running air filtration, bagging debris, HEPA vacuuming and cleaning all take real labor. We write each step from your documentation, so the estimate reflects the remediation you actually performed, not just the materials you removed.
