Asbestos and Lead Abatement Xactimate Estimates
Redefined Restoration LLC writes remote asbestos and lead abatement Xactimate estimates for restoration contractors nationwide. We scope testing, containment, lead-safe work practices and safe removal. The fee is $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher. We write the estimate; licensed professionals perform the testing and abatement.
Older buildings turn routine water and fire losses into hazardous-material jobs. When testing comes back positive, the scope changes: containment, protection, handling and disposal all need to be on the estimate. We write that scope from your documentation.
What does an asbestos abatement estimate include?
Short answer: Testing, containment and safe removal scope for asbestos-containing materials, based on your documentation and test results.
Typical scope areas include:
- Sampling and testing line items
- Containment and critical barriers
- Negative air and filtration with documented runtime
- PPE and decontamination
- Removal, wetting, bagging and labeling of affected materials
- Disposal of regulated waste
- Clearance or air testing, where documented
- Rebuild of removed materials (reconstruction)
What does a lead abatement estimate include?
Short answer: Lead-safe work practices, containment and removal scope.
Typical scope areas include:
- Testing line items
- Containment and surface protection
- Lead-safe work practices and PPE
- Removal or stabilization of affected components
- Specialized cleaning and waste handling
- Cleaning verification or clearance, where documented
For homes built before 1978, the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule generally applies to work that disturbs painted surfaces. Your company is responsible for certification and compliance; we write the scope that reflects the work.
What you receive
- A complete, line-by-line Xactimate estimate for the abatement scope
- Abatement and rebuild scope on the same file if you need both
- The ESX file and the completed PDF estimate report, ready to submit under your company's name
What documentation do you need?
Short answer: Test results or lab reports, an abatement protocol if one exists, photos, and measurements of the affected materials.
Helpful items:
- Lab results identifying the materials and locations
- The abatement contractor's protocol or proposal, if subcontracted
- Photos and measurements of affected materials
- Containment photos and equipment records
- Disposal documentation
Do you perform testing or abatement?
Short answer: No. We are an estimating service.
Testing, abatement work, licensing and regulatory compliance are handled by you or the licensed professionals you work with. Federal, state and local rules vary, and you're responsible for meeting the ones that apply to your work.
How much does an abatement estimate cost?
Short answer: $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher.
Example (illustrative): an $11,000 abatement estimate costs the $150 minimum. A $27,500 abatement estimate costs $275.
Why outsource abatement estimates?
Short answer: Because hazardous-material scopes are detailed, and every containment, protection and disposal step needs to be itemized.
Abatement estimates mix testing, setup, labor, PPE, decontamination, disposal and rebuild. Writing them by hand takes hours, and small steps get skipped. We itemize the whole scope from your lab results and photos so you can focus on running the job safely.

Yes. We write the reconstruction scope too.
Is approval guaranteed?
No. We don't guarantee coverage, approval, payment amount or timing.
