Contents Packout, Storage, Tarping and Board Up Xactimate Estimates

Redefined Restoration LLC writes remote Xactimate estimates for contents packout, contents storage, contents pack back, emergency tarping and emergency board up for restoration contractors nationwide. The fee is $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher. These services can be estimated alone or on the same file as mitigation and rebuild.

What does a contents packout estimate include?

Short answer: Inventory, packing and moving contents out of harm's way.

Inventory and documentation of items

What does contents storage cover?

Short answer: Secure storage of contents while the property is restored.

Short answer: Roof and opening protection to stop further damage.

Tarp materials sized to the documented area
Labor, including any steep-roof or high-roof work you document
Securing materials (battens, fasteners, sandbags)
Removal of the tarp when permanent repairs begin

What does an emergency board up estimate include?

Short answer: Securing doors, windows and openings right after a loss.

Plywood or other board-up materials sized to each opening
Labor, including after-hours response where documented
Fasteners and bracing
Removal when permanent repairs begin

Short answer: Photos, counts and time records.

Room-by-room photos of contents before packout
Box counts, item counts and inventory lists
Labor hours and crew sizes
Storage start date and container count
For tarping and board up: photos of each opening or roof area, measurements and response time

How much does it cost?

Short answer: $150 or 1% of the approved estimate, whichever is higher.

Example (illustrative): a $4,200 board-up and tarping estimate costs the $150 minimum. A $21,000 packout, storage and pack back estimate costs $210.
